Boy Saves Family From Fire
POSTED: 1:26 pm EST November 17, 2006
A 9-year-old Blair County boy saved his family from a fire in their home Thursday night.
The Altoona Mirror reported Trevor Eastburn was the first one to spot the fire in his Hollidaysburg home.
Eastburn yelled to his parents and 14-year-old sister, all of whom made it out of the home safely. Their family dog was also saved from the flames.
Fire officials said it appears a lamp tipped over and caught clothing on fire.

Another great application for a power strip with smoke detecting automatic shutoff. I bet the fire didn't start immediately. I bet it smouldered for a while in the clothing before it ignited. I bet the smoke detector would have shut off the lamp before the fire ignited.
